FAQs about early direct deposit

What is early direct deposit?

With early direct deposit, you don’t have to wait for payday. You get your money up to two days early, meaning you can start paying bills, spending, saving and more, all ahead of schedule. It’s another benefit that helps you get ahead of the game and stay on top of your finances.

Which accounts are eligible for early direct deposit?

Early direct deposit is available for any account with direct deposit set up. That can include Free Checking,2 Membership Savings and money market accounts.

When should I expect my money?

When we make funds available will depend on when we get information from your employer or payer. It can vary from deposit to deposit.

How do I enroll in early direct deposit?

You automatically get early direct deposit if you have direct deposit set up! If not, setting it up is easy.

Just log in to Online Banking or our mobile app, hover over Manage Accounts and click Set Up Direct Deposit. Then, follow the prompts, find your employer in the dropdown menu and log in to their payroll site. We’ll take it from there, and your payments will start landing directly in your account.

Can’t find your employer? Don’t worry. It’s still easy. After you make sure your employer offers direct deposit, you’ll need your routing and account numbers. If your employer uses an automated system, you can enter them directly on that platform. If not, fill out this form and submit it to your employer.

After I set up direct deposit in Online Banking, how long will it take to start seeing deposits go into my account?

It may take one to two pay cycles for you to see your direct deposit in your account. Timing can vary by employer or payroll provider. We recommend contacting your employer’s payroll department to confirm when your request will go into effect.

What if I can’t find my employer or payroll provider?

If you can’t find your employer or payroll provider, you can fill out a printable, manual form you can give to your employer’s payroll department.

You can download the form by clicking here!

What if I don’t remember my employer or payroll login?

Some employers or payroll providers allow you to recover your login credentials through their website. However, you may need to contact your employer’s payroll department to retrieve or reset your login information.

How will I know if my direct deposit switch was made?

After you submit your request, you’ll go to a confirmation page you can screenshot, print or save for your records. You’ll also see the last direct deposit request you made when you log in to Online Banking and select Manage Accounts then Set Up Direct Deposit.

Can I make any changes to my direct deposit after I submit my request?

Yes! To make changes to your direct deposit, log in to Online Banking or the mobile app, click Manage Accounts, then click Set Up Direct Deposit. There you’ll see the last direct deposit request you made along with a button that says Update Deposit Amount. Once you click that button, follow the prompts to change allocations made to direct deposits going into your Desert Financial account(s).

How do I know if I received an early direct deposit?

You can set up alerts in Online Banking or on our top-rated mobile app so you’ll know when your paycheck lands in your account. Plus, you can get notifications for transactions, debit card purchases and more. If you don’t want alerts, you can sign in to Online Banking or our app to see recent activity and available funds.

Early access to direct deposit funds is a free and automatic feature, dependent on the timing of the payment file submission from your payer. Funds are generally made available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to two business days earlier than the scheduled payment date. If your deposit does not arrive early, expect it to be available on your scheduled pay date. Standard fraud prevention restrictions apply. Not all direct deposits qualify for early access. Early availability of funds is not guaranteed and may vary with each deposit. This service is offered at the discretion of Desert Financial Credit Union, which reserves the right to discontinue it at any time without notice.
